RSM International Academy in Chiang Mai, Thailand, offers three afternoon practical courses connected to its core weekday programmes. Each develops a different application of functional anatomy, clinical palpation, movement assessment and treatment selection.

Sports Massage follows TPT; Remedial Massage follows DTM; Sports Medicine Massage follows DMR. Choose the subject that fits your professional role, then read the individual course’s prerequisites.

Hironori Ikeda, MSc Sports Medicine, leads supervised practice and gives direct feedback on anatomical landmarks, contact, pressure, direction and reassessment. Students practise explaining why a technique fits the assessed task and how to modify the next step.

Each paired option combines a 20-hour core course and five hours of afternoon practical training over Monday–Friday: 25 teaching hours. The core fee is THB 12,000; the afternoon component THB 6,000; the paired total THB 18,000.

Trigger Point Therapy + Sports Massage: afternoon practice 15:10–16:10.

Deep Tissue Massage + Remedial Massage: afternoon practice 15:10–16:10.

Dynamic Myofascial Release + Sports Medicine Massage: afternoon practice 15:10–16:10.

Core teaching is 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–15:00. Friday 13:00–15:00 is Practical Application (2 hours), included in the core 20 hours. DTM requires TPT; DMR requires both TPT and DTM. Paired booking does not remove these entry requirements. Check dates and confirm eligibility and places before travel.

Sports Massage connects palpation and movement assessment with an athlete’s training load, session timing and conditioning needs. Remedial Massage develops assessment-led technique selection for symptom and movement presentations. Sports Medicine Massage extends this work to sporting tasks and movement-based manual therapy.

Across the three options, students compare history, range of motion, muscle function, palpation and task response. They choose a focused intervention, adjust pressure and load, and repeat the relevant task. A posture finding or tender point alone is not used to establish a diagnosis or promise a treatment result.

These sessions are intended for practitioners with relevant massage, clinical or movement experience who meet the paired core-course requirements. They suit therapists and sports professionals seeking a more structured way to connect assessment, hands-on skill and re-testing.

Learners working towards professional practice should discuss their present training and experience with RSM before booking. The afternoon format does not replace foundation study or the required TPT → DTM → DMR progression.

Supervised practice develops the ability to identify anatomical landmarks, distinguish tissue layers and describe the findings that support a technique choice. Students adjust the contact point, pressure direction, depth, speed and their own weight transfer.

Hironori Ikeda observes the practical work and gives direct corrections. Students explain the selected task, compare the response before and after the intervention and adapt the next step. These are practical skills for making treatment decisions within the practitioner’s existing scope.

The weekday pathway begins with TPT to develop clinical palpation and muscle-function assessment. DTM builds on that foundation through deep-tissue technique selection and pressure control. DMR then integrates movement with soft-tissue techniques.

The afternoon course adds focused application during the corresponding week. The student benefit is a connected process: assess a task, identify relevant findings, select and explain a technique, adjust load and re-test under supervision.
